It's finally autumn in Dallas and that means family portraits outdoors in the park. Dallas portrait photographers are super busy this time of year, so if you haven't booked yours yet, prepare to be flexible with your calendar. What are the best times and places to shoot? As always, we recommend outdoor portraits for late afternoons so the air is warm, the sun is gentle and the grass is dry -- but it varies. Our favorite locations? Anywhere with some shade and great texture, like iron bridges, stone walls, flagstones, arches and benches.
We were lucky scheduling this year's mini sessions for the first weekend in November because the weather was spectacular. Our location had some great shade and color but also some beautiful reflective water, which makes for painterly backgrounds that just sing on the the wall. We like casual clothes that kids can feel free to play in and we always make time for candid, lifestyle portraits that show kids running, playing and being kids.
