Bluebonnets and other wildflowers are in full bloom here in Dallas and portrait photographers are very busy this time of year. We like to do mini sessions for both Bluebonnets (early April) and then, later in the spring (early May) we announce our special Wildflower Mini Sessions. Timing is critical and we often have to dodge thunderstorms, hail and high winds -- but it's worth it.
Here are some tips for what to wear for these outdoor portraits.
1. Avoid wearing white shirts. They only help reflect the green all around and can often become brighter than your face. A simple pastel or other solid color is much better.
2. Late afternoon light is the best. If you're planning to take your own bluebonnet photos, wait until the hour before sunset to get soft gentle light. Leave the strong sun to the professionals. We know how to shade your face and avoid the "squinty eyes"
3. Bring a pet! These sessions are PERFECT for short-attention span subjects like toddlers, pets and siblings.
Location mini sessions like these are $125 each and the 20 minute sessions will yield 20 +/- proofs and they make GREAT Mother's Day (and Father's Day) gifts. We meet with our clients in the studio, go over the proofs and help them figure out how to best show off their portraits. Prints are ordered a la carte and we have some wonderful specialty acrylics and metal prints that just glow!
Bluebonnet sessions have completed for 2019 but we are now booking Wildflower sessions for Saturday, May 4th and Sunday, May 5th. Call the studio -- they sell out quick! 972-250-2415
