Probably a question I get asked every time someone calls to schedule a family portrait --What should we wear? We all run out of ideas and what often happens is that we settle for what's easy. Jeans and white shirts. What's really up-to-date and MUCH more interesting-- is a palate of soft colors in complementary tones. Like soft greens with a little pink. Or all different shades of blue. Most of our family photography is shot outdoors, where casual clothes have the most impact so why not just put together some fun plaids for the boys and solids for the girls -- or prints and ruffles for the girls and solid colors for the boys? I've included some samples here to illustrate. And while we're talking about family portraits -- don't forget bloomers or shorts to go under little girls dresses. It gives us a lot more flexibility when it comes to sitting them on the ground for some group shots.
